Pawpaw

TN native.  Pawpaw has a large elongated leaf that turns yellowish in fall.  The flower is a somewhat inconspicuous dark purple, which a few weeks later produces the visible fruit from its center.  The fruit is an irregular shaped, green skinned, fleshy, pendulous fruit that hangs singly or in groups up to five, and can be an ounce in weight or up to 7 ounces or so.  Shapes vary from looking like a fat finger, a peanut shape, or a watermelon form. Likes deep rich ravines and coves in TN.
